FAQ - Frequently asked questions

Thank you for considering one of my on-line workout classes.

Please find below a Q&A which is intended to answer questions you may have.

1. When are the classes?

Please refer to the timetable for up to date class information.

2. How do I access the classes?

You will receive an invitation with a Zoom link. This link will allow you in most cases to connect via a single click.

3. What is Zoom?

Zoom is a video conferencing application that allows a number of users to share screens and connect virtually.  It is highly secure and widely used and free of charge for users.

4. What do I need to connect?

Zoom works on Android devices, iPhones, iPads, Laptops or Desktop Computers with wifi or internet connections.

5. What if I have never used Zoom?

I can do a test with you and guide you through using Zoom. This typically takes no more than 5-10 minutes.

6. What happens in a class?

The classes start with a 5 minute warm up. A combination of marching on the spot and a variety of steps to warm up ahead of the exercise session.  This is followed by 5 minutes of dynamic stretches and a 40 minute workout and 10 minute cool down and stretches. I change things up frequently and no two workouts are the same. For more information please also refer to What to expect in a class.

7, What if I am unfit or have not exercised for some time?

It is important to work within your capabilities. During the workout, I show easier and harder options suitable for new exercisers or more experienced exercisers. Please also refer to Over 50's workout.  Barre & Ballet classes are suitable for all levels. A free trial session is a great way to see if the classes are right for you.

8. Can everyone else see me?

You will typically see me (the instructor) on your screen and I will see all participants on a large screen to keep an eye on form. This allows me to correct and assist you and provide additional pointers when needed. You will be able to see some other participants as small windows.

9. Who is the workout designed for / What if I have bad knees or a bad back?

The workouts are designed for over 50’s. They are lower impact and focus on building strength, stamina (endurance), balance, good posture and agility. Many participants have knee problems or back issues and I take this into consideration. Please also refer to the checklist for more information.

10. How much does it cost?

The first workout is free, subsequent workouts are £5 or €5 per session.

11. Is it suitable for men and women?

We have a mixed group of participants with both men and woman joining the classes.

12. What qualifications do you have?

I am fully certified Level 2 Fitness Instructor with 100’s of hours of teaching experience.  I decided on this path as I felt there was a gap in the market for the “older exerciser”. I qualified at the age of 60 after having tried Fitness Classes in the gym with younger instructors. I found the classes did not meet my needs. They were too fast, too high impact on the whole and I had trouble following. I firmly believe that only an older instructor knows what it feels like to be above 50 and how to adapt the workouts without them becoming boring and too easy.

13. How old are the other participants?

Ages vary from mid fifties to early 80’s.

14. Do I need any workout equipment?

A lot of exercises are bodyweight exercises only. We also make use of dumbbells and bands but this is not essential when you first start out.  You will need an exercise mat for some the floor based exercises and stretches.

15. What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing and trainers.

15. How do I sign up for a FREE trial class?

If you have not yet received an invitation, please send me an email or call me

I will send you an invitation to a trial class.

16. More questions?

If you have any additional questions or are unsure please send me an email  or call me.
